Many of you are so much more creative than you give yourself credit for, or are sewing/designing/quilting as a creative endeavor without ever planning on entering competitions.  We understand!  So, for all you unsung creative types we want to spotlight your work here each month.  Send us a photo and all the particulars (maker, pattern, designer) to newsletter@lunnfabrics.com and we'll showcase you and your projects here!

~ Creativity by our Customers ~

A wonderful gift made by Heidi Sisco for her husband using our Northwoods and  Wildlife Sanctuary batiks.  She writes, "I had so much fun making this quilt. The fabrics are gorgeous and just using them put me in such a peaceful place."   Thank you Heidi for sharing a photo of your beautiful work.  Your husband is a very lucky guy!

Using two of our beautiful Ombre' gradations, Ellen made this lap quilt with a free pattern available on the Robert Kaufman website.  The Supernova pattern was originally drafted for Debra's Pointellist Palette collection years ago, but the current rendition is gorgeous as well!  Stop in the shop to see this quilt and all the color variations of the Ombre' Gradation Batiks.  We will even give you a full-color copy of the pattern with purchase of the two 1-1/2 yard pieces necessary to make the quilt!

Pam Davis made this delightful dress for her granddaughter from two of our Artisan Batiks.  Her granddaughter is blessed to have such a talented and giving grandma!

Alice Brody made this gorgeous quilt at the request of her nephew.  He asked for a "Sunrise at the Beach" as a color inspiration.  We love what she came up with plus the leftover batiks were assembled into an equally gorgeous back!

We did some vending at a local quilt show and look what walked into our booth!  This lovely lady made a gorgeous tote from one of our Artisan Batik - Daisy's Garden and a Dot Gradtion coordinate.  She sure brightened up the space everywhere she went.  Thanks for sharing!

And we have a Row by Row 2018 winner!  Melissa Sams (and friends) completed her quilt and put our row right in the middle.  Thanks Melissa!

A stunning quilt designed and created by J. Bruce Wilcox, an award-winning artist from Denver, Colorado.  In person, this quilt has got to be gorgeous!

Batik Stripe Textiles - 20 Colorways - acquired directly from designers Michael Mrowka & Debra Lunn / Lunn Fabrics.
Rectangles rough-cut one at a time to create a maximum off-grain-stripe look. Then stacked and finish-cut.
Labor-intensive pivoted-seam construction. Triangles & 3/4 pieces cut out last to square the surface.

Each rectangle stitched with a complementary cord - then 2 additional different colored cords were whipped into the stitch.

Allie Carter has been busy again!  Here is her latest quilt made with Lunn and Artisan Batiks.  Go Allie - you do beautiful work!

A cheerful quilt by a very talented customer!  Samantha Thrush used the time this past winter to brighten her space by making this absolutely gorgeous quilt!  It is 65" x 65" and has LOTS of Lunn Batiks incorporated in the design.  Thanks for sharing Samantha!

We held a class recently on the Diamond in the Sky pattern and Anita Wilson reconfigured the block settings and came up with a stunning new quilt!  Nice job Anita!  Her version is on the left and our shop sample is on the right.

Martha Kopec has designed a stunning quilt top using our black and white batiks plus her own lemon yellow solid background.  Nice arrangement and the neutral space will give her a wonderful area to quilt to her heart's content!

Tasha Owen spent over 130 hours piecing this gorgeous Art Quilt.  The quilt is called "A Late Summer's Walk".  It is 85" x 95" and is machine pieced/quilted and hand appliqued.   The pieces are 1/2" strips -yes, a half an inch!  She says, "Love little pieces...lets me use all the fabric!".  The right photo is a closeup of her fabulous work.

Using Gemstones collection of Artisan Batiks, this bed quilt (below) was made by Kathy D. of Murraysville, PA.   This quilt is a true GEMstone!

Joey uses our gorgeous batiks to make the nicest, well-constructed purses around!  Check out her latest creation!

Anne Trigua writes: "Since September I have made 7 art quilts.  Most of my fabrics are from Lunn's. This was the first artwork I've done in a year and a half, and I have been obsessively involved with the wonderful fabrics!"  Here's her latest work of art called Total Eclipse.  So creative - thanks for sharing Anne!

Pam shared a picture of her quilt that she made with Artisan Batiks - her son says, "It reminds me of the ocean Mom!"  And yes it does!  Wrap yourself in this quilt and get whisked away to a tropical vacation.  Sweet...

A friend of the shop, Nancy Meyer, paper-pieced this intricate quilt using our Artisan Batiks and the Tessellation pattern.  The quilting was completed by Lindy Wesney.

Here's our youngest, award-winning quilter!  Meet Allie Carter and her award winning quilt.  She won an award at the Ohio State Fair through her 4H program using our Artisan Batiks.  Congrats Allie!  You do beautiful work!

Talk about a photo not doing a quilt justice - created by Scott Flegal this quilt is KING size.   The only way we could photograph it was using a photo Scott had on his phone which he took by laying the quilt out on the grass.  Absolutely stunning!  The one on the right is Scott's latest creation!  He drafted his own pattern based on a needlework piece he saw.  What an absolute gem!  (Both Scott AND his quilt!)

We carry patterns by Karen Eckemeier of the Quilted Lizard and one of her patterns is called Silly Snowmen.  Diana McDaniel took the snowmen applique portion of it and made several mug rugs for gift giving.  Beautifully made with our batiks, I'm sure these mug rugs will be appreciated and cherished!

A customer recently purchased this beautiful tiger batik and look at her creativity!  She even fussy-cut a tiger to fit on the front pocket.  Deborah Williams - you rock!

We offered a class here at Lunn Fabrics in August and helped these fine ladies make gorgeous wedged, pieced Dresden plates for a wall hanging or table runner.  Beautiful work!

Recently, two new projects were brought in the shop for an impromptu show and tell -  Loraine Smith made this stunning jelly roll quilt from our batiks AND made a tote to match!  Perfect for storing that quilt when you're not snuggling under it.  On the right - Gwendolyn Brown shared this black and white quilt recently as well.  Nice work Gwendolyn!

Ellen C. made two quilts for twin grandaughters.  Ellen writes, "Quilters love sharing, seeing the work of others, and inspiration.  In fact the quilts in my picture were inspired by one that was on your shop wall in late 2015.".  And on the right - This one, called Shadow Play, was pieced by Pat Harris and she brought it into the shop to show us.  Beautiful work Pat!  Quilting was done by Catie Gynn.

Our 2017 Patchwork Pillow Project & Contest has ended for the year.  As you view the pillow tops, please realize that these small thumbnail photos do not do the pillow tops justice.  Many are intricate and detailed beyond what the photo shows.  We donate 5% of our gross sales to support the Ganesa Study Center in Java Indonesia as our way of giving back to the Javanese people who make our high quality batiks. Our customers have made these Pillow Tops for the children and families who visit the Ganesa Center.   We, here in the shop, will make a pillow back and they will be stuffed with the pillow form once they arrive in Java
The Javanese people traditionally do not use chairs so they sit or kneel on the floor in the library. A pillow is ideal for comfort so we want to help the Study Center visitors by providing a large pillow top (22" x 22") made by YOU!
